About Nevada’s Insurance Exchange But Were Afraid to Ask
Senator Ben Kieckhefer was elected to the NV Senate in November 2010 and is the current Senate Assistant Minority Leader. He represents Senate District 16 (Washoe and Carson City). Ben currently serves on the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development, and the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.
Senator Justin Jones was elected to the Nevada Senate in 2012 representing district nine (Clark County). Jones is a partner with the statewide law firm Holland and Hart where he specializes in business and probate law. He currently serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, and serves on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor and Energy, and the Senate Judiciary Committee. Jones commits himself to numerous community organizations, including the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, Children's Attorney Project.
Senator Kelvin Atkinson was first elected to the Nevada Assembly in 2002. In 2012, he was elected to the Nevada Senate, representing Nevada's fourth legislative district (Clark County). He currently serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor and Energy, and serves on the Senate Committee on Transportation, and the Senate Committee on Legislative Operations, Elections and Procedures. Atkinson is a management analyst and mediator for the Clark County Government.
Jon M. Hager was appointed as the first Executive Director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange in January 2012 by unanimous vote of the Exchange Board in an open interview process. Prior to 2012, Mr. Hager was the Chief Financial Officer of Nevada's Public Employee's Benefits Program and was responsible for the Program's $476 million annual budget which served 72,000 state and local government employees, retirees and dependents. Mr. Hager served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He earned his MBA from Texas A&M and a BS in Physics from the United States Naval Academy.
Bob Carey, principal at RLCarey
Consulting, is a health and welfare benefits consultant specializing in
benefits management, rate review, data analytics, plan design, and health and welfare
benefits procurements. Mr. Carey currently assists a number of states across
the country, helping officials implement federal health care reform. His particular strength is providing
strategic and technical assistance with the planning, design and establishment
of health insurance exchanges.
Patty Fontneau joined the Colorado
Health Benefit Exchange as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer in
December 2011. She most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at Holme
Roberts & Owen LLP, an international law firm. She previously served as Chief
Administrative Officer for the IMA Financial Group Inc. and as Vice President
and General Manager of the Western Service Center of TIAA-CREF, managing the
operation of a 1,300-employee office in Denver. She won the 2007 Outstanding
Women in Business Award (banking and finance category) from the Denver Business
Journal, the Leadership Award from the Alumni Association of the University of
Colorado at Denver Business School, and the 2003 Athena award from the Colorado
Women's Chamber of Commerce, among other honors.
